Rated 5 out of 5 by animal what an animal !! did not know much about this model, but am glad I chose it. I just purchased a farm and wanted / needed a good trimmer. figured I needed something more then the average home owner so I chose the professional model.Starts very easy and the power is awesome. the place I purchased had been vacant for months and had weeds over 6 ft tall.. The trimmer handled everything out there. Definitely wear your safety glasses !!!! Am very happy with my purchase October 1, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by For the money it should be better. I got this for my wife for Mother's Day. I know... I know what you're thinking but she loves to run a weed eater or a leaf blower. I am truly the most blessed man on the planet. Ok, back to the trimmer. It's hard to start, it vibrates, and the line gets stuck inside the spool. We have tried two different brands of line and it still does it. Since my wife doesn't work on the trimmer, I have to stop my mowing every time something happens to it. I have to stop way too often. Rated 4 out of 5 by More than average homeowner will need. I purchased this trimmer on recommendation from a friend who owns a large landscaping company. I went to our local stihl dealer. They were excellent. Took the time to go through all the models and decided on this fs70r. First impression was seemed very strong an stout. Used it to trim my 1 acre lot. I have a lot of sidewalks driveway and privacy fence to trim around. This thing is a beast! After learning the sound of the line an when to advance it to keep it from breaking off in the head I've had zero issues! Recently changed to .95 x style line and this was an improvement over the round factory stuff. I've read some guys complain about it being hard to start. I don't have that issue. I run stihls pre mix fuel an it starts every time cold or hot. Excellent trimmer. Very pleased. Will be going back for the leaf blower next. As stated this is more than the average homeowner needs. But if you want commercial grade at a good price it's hard to beat the fs70r. The only reason I gave it 4 stars across the board is the debris guard is to small to really be effective. An the flex shaft does tend to give it a vibration that it wouldn't otherwise have. Overall an excellent product. Sure beats my homelight. September 14, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by poor starting Got this trimmer for a back up and it was a mistake, been to the repair shop four times for vibration and still not fixed. This seems to be a dud. September 5, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Starting problems Really like this tool after it starts. Never had so much trouble starting a Stihl product and I have owned several over the years. The recoil spring broke the second time it was cranked. Very easy to flood. Removing plug wire resulted in breaking the wire. Will probably junk it and buy another brand. It is only 2years old but not worth the trouble. Love the 2leaf blowers and extremely old weed eater, all Stihl. August 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Couldn't ask for a better machine I recently purchased the 70 for home use. I use a weed eater on about 3 acres all together. I was not looking forward to the break in period as you are not supposed to run it at high RPMs. I was amazed how much power it had at 1/3 throttle. Way more than any others in the past. I ran the 3 tanks thru and the next day ran it hard for about 5 hours. Thick heavy grass, rocky terrain, muddy, dry, even saplings. Never did it stall or bog down. And easy effortless starting. It's a great bargain and fantastic machine. So far total run time 9 hours. 7 tanks and still have some of the first spool of line left. You won't regret buying this machine. Very low vibration too!! Rated 5 out of 5 by cant go wrong with this one just got mine today and ran it through it's first tank of gas it went through it fairly quick but not a big deal it has alot more power at half throttle than what my old husvarnas did at full throttle very pleased so far im anxious to see how it's gonna do at full throttle i didnt rate the dependability yet as i just got it today but seems to be built pretty solid more so than the husqvarnas it'll definitely get a good workout at my place and my dads place this thing has given me a good first impression so would i recommend it ? i absolutely would in a heartbeat ive ran older stihls in the past but never bought any til today and as of today conside me a stihl covert :D August 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Equipment For the price, the value cant be beat. WIll cut even the roughest grasses. I would recommend the fs70 to anyone. July 20, 2015
